The club offers a variety of sailing courses for both adult, junior, and prospective members, whether newcomers to the sport, with no previous experience, or those wishing to improve their performance after learning the basics.

BASIC SAILING INSTRUCTION FOR ADULTS
Our “ Start to Sail “ is a group course for initial sailing experience and is run over four Tuesday evenings. Course One: Tuesday, June 3rd – 24th. Course Two: Tuesday, July 1st – 22nd. (Four evenings for each) Starting at 6:30pm, finishing 8:30pm.
You must be a club member, and for new members the course is free, but subject to availability.

SAILING INSTRUCTION FOR JUNIORS
This year we are running the NSSA Bronze, Silver & Gold Award Courses. Training takes place Saturdays from 13.00 - 16.00hrs in our Toppers, Optimists and Gulls or your own boat. This will consist of two 6 week courses. Course 1 is June 7
th - July 12th, Course 2 is August 23rd – September 27th. Those taking part in this training will be able to progress through the stages at their own pace, but regular attendance (except for your holidays) is essential. Places on this course will be limited to about 12, so book early if you want to get in at the start.
To attend these courses you must be at least 8 years old and be able to swim 50 metres in light clothing. You must be a club member (current cost £23-40 for juniors) and pay a course fee of £60. Parents are encouraged to join the club as Social Members or Full Members. There is no more cost involved in the training described in this section, or for the use of the club's dinghies which junior members can use by arrangement when they are in the charge of a responsible adult and rescue cover is provided.

2 DAY BASIC SAILING COURSES
From May 27
th – 30th we will be running 2 day courses in both Topper and Optimist dinghies.
Course 1 is May 27
th – 28th, Course 2 is May 29th – 30th , 10.00 - 17.00hrs.
There is a charge for these courses of £40, and they are open to temporary members as well as members. Use of our other club boats by juniors is also encouraged during this week, with no charge for members. Camping is permitted on site during this week, but a responsible adult must accompany each group of juniors. A nominal charge may be made for Camping.

IMPROVING YOUR SAILING
For those members who have attended a training course, to improve your skills we are normally able to lend you club owned boats to practice in, for your first year. These boats may only be used with the prior permission of a member of the training committee, and will only be available if not being used for training purposes.

RACE TRAINING
Race Training can often be provided for both adult and junior members who wish to learn the fundamentals needed to get started in club racing.
Courses and dates will be provided depending on interest and available days. Please contact the Training Secretary if you are interested. A basic training fee may be required to help cover costs

TRAINING FOR POWERBOATS
Elementary powerboat training is given on the safe use of all our craft, generally on Tuesday evenings, and all new members are encouraged to make use of this facility.
Structured powerboat courses are also provided for members, by our RYA qualified instructor, on the following Saturdays:- April 12
th, May 10th, July 26th, and October 11th, starting at 9 am and finishing at about 5 pm. Please see the notice on the lectern by the phone in the club house, and complete all details on sheet provided.
Elementary training is free, but a charge will be made for structured courses to help cover fuel and maintenance costs, currently £10 + V.A.T. = £11.75.
